Love requires us to let go of control from "summary" of The Four Noble Truths of Love by Susan Piver

Love is a force that is beyond our ability to control. It is a force that is greater than us, that moves through us and around us, that connects us to others in ways that we cannot fully understand. In order to truly experience love, we must be willing to let go of the need to control every aspect of our relationships, to release our grip on the people we love and allow them the freedom to be who they are. This can be a difficult concept to grasp, as we are often taught that love is about possession and control, about molding others into the people we want them to be. But true love is not about ownership, it is about acceptance and appreciation. When we try to control our relationships, we are acting out of fear. We are afraid of losing the people we love, of being hurt or abandoned. But by holding on too tightly, we actually push them away. We suffocate the love that is trying to flow between us, we stifle the connection that is trying to grow.
