Love is not a shield against pain; it is a gateway through it. When we allow ourselves to truly love, we are also opening ourselves up to the potential for suffering. This may seem like a paradox - how can something that brings us so much joy also bring us so much pain? But the reality is that love and suffering are two sides of the same coin. They are intertwined, inseparable, and unavoidable. In our relationships, we will undoubtedly face moments of hardship, disappointment, and heartbreak. These experiences can be incredibly painful, and they may cause us to want to shut down, to close ourselves off from the world, and to protect our hearts from further hurt. But if we do this, we are also closing ourselves off from the possibility of experiencing deep, profound love. Love requires vulnerability.
