The legal system is flawed in many ways from "summary" of The Fact of a Body by Alexandria Marzano-Lesnevich
The legal system is a complex web of rules and regulations meant to ensure justice and fairness for all. However, it is evident that this system is flawed in numerous ways. One of the key issues is the inherent bias that exists within the system. Judges, jurors, and lawyers are all human beings with their own beliefs, prejudices, and experiences that can influence the outcome of a case. Furthermore, the adversarial nature of the legal system often prioritizes winning over seeking the truth. Lawyers are trained to argue their cases forcefully, sometimes at the expense of uncovering the whole truth. This can lead to miscarriages of justice where the guilty go free or the innocent are wrongly convicted. Another flaw in the legal system is the reliance on past precedents and statutes that may not always be relevant to the current case at hand. This can result in outdated or unjust laws being applied in a way that does not serve the interests of justice. Moreover, the legal system can be slow and cumbersome, leading to delays in justice being served. This can be particularly distressing for victims of crimes who are left waiting for closure and resolution.- It is clear that the legal system is not infallible and there is a pressing need for reform to address these flaws. Only by acknowledging and addressing these shortcomings can we hope to create a more just and equitable system of justice for all.
