This means that these particles can be in multiple states at the same time, unlike classical objects which can only exist in one state at any given moment. In the quantum realm, a particle can simultaneously be in different positions, have different energies, or exhibit different spins. This is a fundamental aspect of quantum mechanics that sets it apart from classical physics. The concept of superposition can be illustrated through the famous thought experiment involving Schrödinger's cat. In this scenario, a cat is placed in a sealed box with a vial of poison that may or may not be released based on the quantum state of a radioactive atom. According to quantum mechanics, until the box is opened and the state of the atom is observed, the cat is considered to be both alive and dead simultaneously.
