In the practice of mindfulness meditation, one of the key principles that we encounter is the idea of letting go of our desires. This concept may seem contradictory at first glance – after all, don't we usually think that pursuing our desires is what brings us happiness and fulfillment? However, as we delve deeper into the teachings of mindfulness, we begin to see that attachment to desires actually causes us suffering. When we are constantly chasing after our desires, we are never fully satisfied. We may achieve temporary happiness when we fulfill a desire, but that happiness quickly fades as we move on to the next thing we want.
