Miracle at Sravasti to display powers from "summary" of The Epic of the Buddha by Chittadhar Hrdaya

The Buddha, being the enlightened one, possessed great powers beyond the comprehension of ordinary beings. One particular instance where he displayed these powers was at Sravasti, where a miracle took place to showcase the extent of his abilities. The Buddha was residing in the Jetavana Grove when a group of rival ascetics from a nearby sect challenged him to a display of powers. The Buddha accepted the challenge, not out of arrogance or ego, but as a means to teach and inspire others. The rival ascetics started by performing various magic tricks and illusions, trying to impress the crowd with their abilities. However, their displays were mere tricks compared to the true power of the Buddha. When it was his turn, the Buddha calmly sat down and entered into a deep state of meditation. As he meditated, miraculous events started to unfold around him. Flames shot out of his body, water cascaded from his feet, and the earth shook with his every breath. The sky was filled with celestial music, and the air was perfumed with heavenly scents. The rival ascetics were left in awe and fear, realizing that they were no match for the Buddha's powers. The people who witnessed the miracle at Sravasti were filled with wonder and amazement at the sight before them. Through this display of powers, the Buddha was not seeking to impress or intimidate others, but rather to show that true power lies in wisdom and compassion. He used his abilities not for personal gain or glory, but to guide others towards the path of enlightenment. The miracle at Sravasti served as a powerful teaching moment, reminding all those present of the boundless potential that lies within each of us.
