Technology cannot fix the damage we have done from "summary" of The End of Nature by Bill McKibben
The idea that technology can heal the wounds we have inflicted on the natural world is a seductive one. It offers a glimmer of hope in the face of environmental devastation, a promise that we can continue on our current path without consequences. But this belief is flawed, a dangerous illusion that blinds us to the true extent of the damage we have caused. The truth is that technology cannot undo the harm we have done to the Earth. It cannot bring back species driven to extinction, repair ecosystems irreparably altered by human activity, or reverse the effects of climate change. No amount of innovation or ingenuity can turn back the clock and restore the world to its pristine state.
