The problems with leadership are becoming more apparent from "summary" of The End of Leadership by Barbara Kellerman

As leadership has evolved over time, so too have the challenges that leaders face. The traditional hierarchical model of leadership, in which authority flows from the top down, is no longer as effective as it once was. In today's complex and fast-paced world, leaders must be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and make decisions in the face of uncertainty. However, many leaders are ill-equipped to deal with the complexities of modern leadership. One of the key problems with leadership today is a lack of accountability. Leaders are often shielded from the consequences of their actions, whether through the use of scapegoats or by simply passing the blame onto others. This lack of accountability can lead to poor decision-making and a lack of trust among followers. As a result, leaders may find themselves isolated and unable to effectively lead their teams. Another issue facing leaders today is a disconnect between leaders and followers. In the past, leaders were seen as figureheads who held all the power and made all the decisions. However, in today's world, followers are more educated and informed than ever before, and they expect to have a say in the decision-making process. Leaders who fail to engage with their followers and seek their input risk losing their support and loyalty. Furthermore, traditional notions of leadership are being challenged by new forms of leadership that prioritize collaboration and inclusivity. Leaders who rely on command and control tactics may find themselves out of step with the changing expectations of their followers. Instead, leaders must be willing to listen to diverse perspectives, build consensus, and empower others to take on leadership roles themselves.
  1. The problems with leadership are becoming more apparent in today's world. Leaders must be willing to adapt to the changing landscape of leadership and rethink their approaches to meet the needs of their followers. Failure to do so can result in ineffective leadership, loss of trust, and ultimately, failure in achieving organizational goals.
