National governments are increasingly being pressured to conform to global standards and regulations, limiting their ability to enact policies that are tailored to their specific needs and priorities. In the economic sphere, globalization has led to the outsourcing of jobs and the loss of manufacturing industries in many developed countries. As capital flows freely across borders, multinational corporations are able to exploit disparities in labor costs and environmental regulations, leading to a race to the bottom in terms of wages and working conditions.
