Ruth McBride Jordan, my mother, was a woman of great strength and resilience. Raised in the South during a time of deep segregation and racism, she faced countless challenges, but she never let them break her spirit. Instead, she used her experiences to shape her into the strong and determined woman that she was. Her ability to persevere in the face of adversity was something that I deeply admired about her. One of the things that I respected most about my mother was her unwavering belief in the power of education. Despite facing many obstacles, she always stressed the importance of learning and knowledge.
