Some characters display dishonesty from "summary" of The Characters by Theophrastus
There are certain individuals who have a penchant for deception that goes beyond mere occasional white lies. These characters are masters of manipulation, using their charm and wit to deceive others for their own gain. They may feign concern or empathy, all the while plotting their next move to exploit those around them. One such character is the flatterer, who showers others with insincere praise in order to win favor. This individual will go to great lengths to make others feel good about themselves, all the while harboring ulterior motives. Their words may be sweet, but their intentions are anything but pure.
Another example is the sycophant, who ingratiates themselves with those in positions of power in order to advance their own interests. They are skilled at telling people what they want to hear, regardless of the truth. Their loyalty is shallow and fleeting, as they are always looking out for themselves above all else.
Then there is the hypocrite, who espouses high moral values while engaging in behavior that directly contradicts those beliefs. They may preach honesty and integrity, all the while engaging in deceitful practices behind closed doors. Their outward appearance of righteousness is merely a facade to mask their true nature.
These characters may be captivating and charming on the surface, but underneath lies a web of deceit and manipulation. Their dishonesty knows no bounds, as they will stop at nothing to achieve their own selfish desires. Be wary of those who display such traits, for their true intentions are always hidden beneath a veneer of false sincerity.
