Buddha's teachings are not about following blindly but about questioning and finding answers within ourselves from "summary" of The Buddha Said... by Osho

The teachings of Buddha are not meant to be blindly followed. They are not commandments that one must unquestioningly obey. Instead, they are invitations to explore, to question, to seek answers within our own selves. Buddha does not claim to have all the answers; rather, he encourages his followers to look within, to discover the truth for themselves. Buddha's teachings are like a mirror that reflects back to us our own inner wisdom. They are not meant to be a set of rigid rules that must be adhered to without question. Instead, they are tools for self-exploration, for delving deep into our own consciousness and uncovering our own truths. By questioning and examining the teachings of Buddha, we are not disrespecting him or his wisdom. On the contrary, we are honoring his teachings by engaging with them thoughtfully and critically. Buddha himself encouraged his followers to be skeptical, to test his teachings against their own experiences, and to only accept what resonated with them as true. In this way, the teachings of Buddha are not meant to be blindly followed but rather to be actively engaged with. They are not meant to be imposed from the outside but to be discovered from within. By questioning and seeking answers within ourselves, we are able to truly understand and embody the wisdom that Buddha imparted.
  1. The teachings of Buddha are an invitation to awaken to our own inner truth, to trust our own intuition, and to find the answers that lie within us. They are not dogma to be accepted without question but rather a guide to self-discovery and self-realization. Through questioning and seeking answers within ourselves, we can truly embody the essence of Buddha's teachings and live a life of wisdom and compassion.
