Our brains are limited by their physical structure from "summary" of The Brain by David Eagleman

The physical structure of our brains determines our cognitive abilities. This means that our mental capacities are constrained by the way our brains are built. For instance, the number of neurons and connections in our brains sets a limit on how much information we can process at any given moment. This is why we can only focus on a few things at a time and why our memory has a finite capacity. Additionally, the way our brains are wired influences how we perceive the world around us. Our senses are limited by the sensory organs we have - for example, we can only see a certain range of light and hear a certain range of sounds. This means that there are aspects of reality that are beyond our perception simply because our brains are not equipped to process them. Moreover, the structure of our brains dictates how we think and make decisions. The neural pathways in our brains shape our thought processes and behaviors. This is why some people are more inclined towards analytical thinking while others are more creative or emotional. Our brain structure also influences our ability to learn new things and adapt to new situations.
  1. Our brains are like computers with a fixed hardware configuration. Just as a computer's capabilities are determined by its hardware, our mental abilities are limited by the physical structure of our brains. While we can enhance our cognitive functions to some extent through training and practice, there are inherent constraints imposed by the way our brains are built. This understanding of the brain's limitations is crucial for appreciating the complexity and marvel of the human mind.
