Krishna counselled him about duty from "summary" of The Bhagwat Gita by R. R. Varma

In the midst of the great battle of Kurukshetra, Arjuna found himself overwhelmed by doubt and confusion. He could not bring himself to fight against his own kith and kin, even though it was his duty as a warrior to do so. It was then that Lord Krishna, his charioteer and friend, counselled him about duty. Krishna explained to Arjuna the concept of dharma, or duty, and how it was essential for him to fulfill his duties as a warrior. He reminded Arjuna that it was his duty to fight for righteousness and justice, even if it meant fighting against his own family members. Krishna emphasized the importance of performing one's duty without attachment to the results, as it was not for Arjuna to decide the outcome of the battle. Through his teachings, Krishna helped Arjuna understand the true nature of duty and righteousness. He showed Arjuna that by fulfilling his duties selflessly and with dedication, he would ultimately attain liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Krishna's counsel served as a guiding light for Arjuna, helping him to overcome his doubts and fears, and inspiring him to fight bravely on the battlefield. The conversation between Krishna and Arjuna, known as the Bhagavad Gita, is a timeless spiritual text that continues to inspire and guide people to this day. It teaches us the importance of fulfilling our duties with dedication and devotion, without being swayed by attachment or desire. Just as Krishna counselled Arjuna about duty, so too can we learn from his teachings and strive to lead a life of righteousness and selflessness.
