The pursuit of wisdom involves constant questioning and inquiry from "summary" of The Awakening of Intelligence by Jiddu Krishnamurti
The movement of thought is always in a circle, and the circle is knowledge. When knowledge is accumulated, it becomes memory, and memory is the response of the past. The response of the past is always inadequate because it is always limited. There is no complete response; there is no total understanding. When the mind is burdened with knowledge, it cannot inquire. It cannot question. It cannot be free. To pursue wisdom, there must be freedom from the known. Wisdom is not the result of accumulated knowledge. It cannot be found in books, in traditions, in authorities. Wisdom comes into being when there is a constant questioning, an inquiry into the nature of existence, into the movement of thought. The pursuit of wisdom involves constant questioning and inquiry because wisdom is a living thing. It is not static; it is not something to be acquired. Wisdom is the understanding of the movement of thought, the movement of the self. To understand this movement, there must be a constant awareness, a constant observation without judgment. When the mind is free from the known, it can inquire deeply. It can question everything - its beliefs, its experiences, its fears. It can look at everything anew, without the burden of the past. This constant questioning, this constant inquiry, is the essence of wisdom. Wisdom is not an end; it is a beginning. It is the beginning of intelligence, of insight, of understanding. It is the beginning of a new way of living, a way of living that is free from the known, that is free from the conditioning of the past. Wisdom is the awakening of intelligence.Similar Posts
