One of the central themes throughout my story is the deep-rooted criticism of how the American government has treated African Americans. From the days of slavery to the present, the mistreatment and discrimination against Black people have been ingrained in the very fabric of this nation. The history of African Americans in this country is a history of oppression, violence, and marginalization. The government has played a significant role in perpetuating these injustices, from upholding slavery to enforcing segregation and Jim Crow laws. Even after the Civil Rights Movement, systemic racism continues to plague our society, with Black communities facing disproportionate rates of poverty, incarceration, and police brutality.
