Childhood experiences shaped my spiritual journey from "summary" of The Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda

As a young boy growing up in India, I was surrounded by a deep sense of spirituality that permeated every aspect of my life. My parents were devout believers in the teachings of our religion, and they instilled in me a reverence for the divine that would shape my spiritual journey for years to come. From a young age, I was exposed to the rituals and practices of our faith, and I took to them with a sense of wonder and awe that was beyond my years. One of my earliest memories is of sitting with my mother in our small family shrine, watching as she lit incense and offered prayers to the gods. I remember feeling a sense of peace and contentment wash over me as I listened to the soothing chants and watched the flickering flames of the oil lamp. It was in those moments that I first felt a connection to something greater than myself, something that transcended the boundaries of the physical world. As I grew older, my understanding of spirituality deepened, thanks in large part to the influence of my beloved guru, Sri Yukteswar. He was a wise and gentle soul who guided me on the path to self-realization, teaching me the importance of meditation, self-discipline, and devotion. Under his tutelage, I began to see the world in a new light, one that was infused with a sense of wonder and mystery that I had never known before. It was during my time with Sri Yukteswar that I first began to experience the profound spiritual awakening that would shape the course of my life. Through his teachings and guidance, I learned to see the divine in all things, to recognize the interconnectedness of all beings, and to understand the true nature of the universe. In his presence, I felt a sense of peace and clarity that I had never known before, a sense of purpose that transcended the limitations of my physical existence. Looking back on those formative years, I can see now how my childhood experiences laid the foundation for the spiritual journey that lay ahead of me. They taught me the importance of faith, devotion, and self-discovery, and they instilled in me a sense of wonder and awe that continues to inspire me to this day. My spiritual path has been a long and winding one, filled with challenges and obstacles, but it is a journey that I would not trade for anything in the world.
