We are bombarded with messages that tell us to think positively, to look on the bright side, to always be happy. But this relentless focus on positivity can actually have the opposite effect, leading to anxiety, stress, and disappointment.
When we let go of the need for constant positivity, we free ourselves from the pressure to always be cheerful and optimistic. We give ourselves permission to experience a full range of emotions – both positive and negative – without judgment or guilt. This acceptance of the ebbs and flows of life can be incredibly liberating. We no longer have to pretend that everything is okay when it's not. We can acknowledge our struggles and our pain without feeling like we are failing in some way.
