Society's tendency to reject absolute truth from "summary" of The Abolition of Man by C. S. Lewis

In our modern age, there is a prevailing attitude that dismisses the existence of absolute truth. The idea that there are certain universal principles that hold true regardless of time or culture is often met with skepticism and derision. This rejection of absolute truth is a dangerous trend that threatens to undermine the very foundation of morality and ethics in society. It is argued that truth is relative, that what is true for one person may not be true for another. This subjective view of truth leads to a moral relativism that denies the existence of any objective standards by which to judge right from wrong. Without a firm grounding in absolute truth, society is left adrift in a sea of moral ambiguity, where anything goes and nothing is off limits. This rejection of absolute truth is often accompanied by a disdain for tradition and authority. The wisdom of the past is disregarded in favor of a more "enlightened" and "progressive" worldview. But in discarding the wisdom of our ancestors, we risk losing touch with the timeless truths that have guided humanity for generations. The consequences of this rejection of absolute truth are dire. Without a solid moral foundation, society is susceptible to the whims of individual desires and societal trends. The very fabric of civilization is at risk of unraveling as we abandon the principles that have sustained us for centuries. In order to combat this dangerous trend, we must reaffirm the existence of absolute truth. We must recognize that there are certain universal principles that transcend individual beliefs and cultural norms. Only by acknowledging the existence of absolute truth can we hope to build a society that is grounded in morality and ethics.
