Trust is the foundation of strong leadership from "summary" of The 5 Levels of Leadership by John C. Maxwell

Trust is the bedrock of leadership. Without trust, influence and impact are limited. Think about it this way: if people don't trust you, they won't follow you. And if they won't follow you, you can't lead them. Trust is not something that can be forced or demanded. It must be earned over time through consistent actions and behaviors. Trust is built through credibility. Credibility is a combination of competence, character, and consistency. Competence is the knowledge and skills you bring to the table. Character is who you are as a person, your values, beliefs, and integrity. Consistency is the ability to act in a predictable and reliable manner. When people see that you are competent, have strong character, and are consistent in your actions, they begin to trust you. Trust is fragile. It can take years to build and only moments to destroy. It's like a delicate vase - once shattered, it's difficult to put back together. That's why it's so important for leaders to be intentional about building trust with their team members. This means being transparent, keeping your promises, admitting when you're wrong, and always acting in the best interests of the team. Trust is reciprocal. As a leader, you must trust your team in order to gain their trust in return. This means giving them autonomy, delegating responsibilities, and empowering them to make decisions. When people feel trusted, they are more likely to trust you in return. It's a two-way street that requires effort and commitment from both parties. Trust is the key to unlocking the full potential of your team. When people trust their leader, they are willing to go above and beyond, take risks, and innovate. They are more engaged, motivated, and committed to the team's goals. Trust creates a positive work environment where collaboration, communication, and creativity thrive. It is the foundation of strong leadership that enables teams to achieve greatness.
