The way of the world is to wax and wane, to rise and fall, to come and go. This is the natural order of things, the ebb and flow of life. Just as the sun rises and sets, the tides ebb and flow, so too do our lives follow cycles of growth and decay. To resist this natural rhythm is to go against the Tao, the way of the universe. It is futile to try to hold onto what is passing, to cling to what is fading. Instead, we must learn to accept the cycles of life and change, to embrace the impermanence of all things. When we learn to go with the flow, to ride the waves of change, we find peace and harmony. We are no longer tossed about by the winds of fortune, but instead move with grace and ease.
