Researchers are encouraged to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of human knowledge, without being constrained by the demands of the market or the need for immediate results. On the other hand, industry operates in a much more pragmatic and results-oriented manner. Companies are driven by profit motives and market forces, and research projects are typically geared towards developing products or technologies that can be commercialized and sold to consumers.
