Understanding happiness is a slippery endeavor. We think we know what will make us happy, but as it turns out, we are often mistaken. Our minds have a tendency to play tricks on us when it comes to predicting what will bring us joy. We are not always as in tune with our desires as we think we are. One reason for this is our limited ability to accurately imagine future emotions. When we try to envision how we will feel in a certain situation, we rely on our present emotions to guide us. This can lead to errors in judgment, as our current state may not reflect how we will actually feel in the future. Our understanding of happiness is clouded by the biases and constraints of our own minds. Additionally, our definitions of happiness are constantly shifting.
