Prophet Yusuf's dream from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr
Prophet Yusuf, the son of Prophet Ya'qub, had a dream in which eleven stars, the sun, and the moon prostrated to him. Excited by this dream, Yusuf shared it with his father, Ya'qub. Ya'qub, being a prophet himself, immediately recognized the significance of the dream. He understood that the stars represented Yusuf's brothers, the sun symbolized him (Ya'qub), and the moon represented Yusuf's mother. Ya'qub cautioned Yusuf not to disclose the dream to his brothers, fearing that they might become envious and plot against him. However, Yusuf's brothers eventually learned of the dream and became jealous of him. They conspired to get rid of Yusuf, eventually deciding to throw him into a well. Yusuf's brothers then returned to their father, pretending that a wolf had attacked Yusuf and that he was now dead. Ya'qub, who was deeply saddened by the loss of his beloved son, refused to be consoled. However, deep down, Ya'qub held on to the hope that Yusuf was still alive. Meanwhile, Yusuf was found by a passing caravan and sold into slavery in Egypt. In Egypt, Yusuf's righteousness and wisdom caught the attention of the king, who eventually appointed him as his treasurer. Despite facing numerous challenges and temptations, Yusuf remained steadfast in his faith and continued to interpret dreams. The king began to have disturbing dreams, which none of his advisors could explain. Word of Yusuf's gift for dream interpretation reached the king, who summoned him to decipher the dreams. Yusuf's interpretation of the dreams proved to be accurate, and the king was impressed by his wisdom and insight. Through his ability to interpret dreams, Yusuf gained the king's trust and was eventually granted a position of power and authority in Egypt. Yusuf's dream of the sun, moon, and stars prostrating to him had come true, signifying his rise to prominence and the fulfillment of his destiny as a prophet of God.Similar Posts
