Prophet Jonah and the Whale from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets (Peace be upon them) by Imam Imaduddin Isma’il Ibn Kathir
Prophet Jonah (Peace be upon him) was sent by Allah to preach to the people of Nineveh, a city known for its wickedness and disobedience. Despite his efforts to guide them towards the right path, the people of Nineveh refused to listen to him and continued in their sinful ways. Feeling frustrated and hopeless, Prophet Jonah left the city without seeking Allah's permission. As he embarked on a ship, a severe storm arose at sea, threatening the lives of all on board. The sailors, realizing that the storm was a punishment from Allah, cast lots to determine the cause of their misfortune. The lot fell on Prophet Jonah, who admitted his wrongdoing and asked to be thrown into the sea to save the others. As Prophet Jonah was thrown overboard, a great whale swallowed him whole.
