Adam's Sin and Repentance from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets (Peace be upon them) by Imam Imaduddin Isma’il Ibn Kathir

When Allah created Adam, He commanded the angels to prostrate before him, as a sign of respect and honor. All of the angels obeyed except for Iblis, who was from the Jinn. Iblis was arrogant and refused to prostrate before Adam, saying that he was superior to Adam because he was created from fire while Adam was created from clay. Because of his arrogance and disobedience, Iblis was expelled from Paradise. Adam and Eve lived in Paradise, but they were tempted by Iblis to eat from the forbidden tree. They both ate from the tree and as a result, they were both sent down to the earth as a punishment. However, Allah forgave Adam when he repented sincerely for his sin. Adam acknowledged his mistake and sought forgiveness from Allah, who is the Most Merciful and Most Forgiving. Allah accepted Adam's repentance and granted him His mercy. Through the story of Adam's sin and repentance, we learn that all human beings are prone to making mistakes and committing sins. However, what is important is to recognize our faults, seek forgiveness from Allah, and strive to be better. Allah is always ready to forgive those who sincerely repent and turn back to Him. Adam's story teaches us the importance of humility, repentance, and seeking forgiveness from Allah, no matter how big or small our sins may be.
