Construction of the Ark from "summary" of Stories of the Prophets by Ismāʻīl ibn ʻUmar Ibn Kathīr
Noah was a prophet who was chosen by Allah to guide his people to the right path. He lived among a people who had turned away from the worship of the One true God and had become engrossed in their own desires and pleasures. Noah tried to warn them of the consequences of their actions and called them to repentance, but they only mocked him and refused to listen. As the people's disbelief and disobedience continued to worsen, Noah received a revelation from Allah instructing him to build an ark. The purpose of this ark was to save the believers and the animals from the impending flood that would destroy the disbelievers. Noah, being a faithful servant of Allah, immediately set to work on constructing the ark as per the divine instructions. Noah worked tirelessly, gathering the necessary materials and laboring day and night to complete the ark before the flood arrived. As the ark neared completion, Noah received another revelation from Allah instructing him to gather two of every kind of animal - male and female - to be saved from the flood. Noah followed these instructions meticulously, ensuring that every creature was safely on board before the floodwaters began to rise. When the flood finally came, the ark floated safely on the waters, carrying Noah, the believers, and the animals to safety. The disbelievers who had rejected Noah's message were drowned in the flood, a punishment for their refusal to heed the warnings of Allah's messenger. The construction of the ark serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of faith, obedience, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Noah's unwavering commitment to following Allah's commands and his dedication to saving the believers and the animals from destruction are a testament to his righteousness and piety. The story of the ark is a timeless lesson in the consequences of disbelief and the rewards of faith and obedience.
