Processed foods are those that have been altered in some way from their original state before consumption. Many of these alterations involve the addition of various chemicals, preservatives, colorings, and flavorings to enhance the taste and appearance of the food. However, these additives do not contribute to the nutritional value of the food and can even be harmful to health in the long run. One of the key problems with processed foods is that they often lack essential nutrients that our bodies need to function properly. During processing, many of the natural vitamins, minerals, and other important nutrients are stripped away, leaving behind only empty calories. This means that even though processed foods may be filling, they do not provide the necessary nutrients that our bodies need to thrive.
