Trust in your own inner wisdom from "summary" of Start Where You Are by Pema Chodron

When we talk about trusting in our own inner wisdom, we are really talking about trusting in our own basic goodness. This idea might sound simple, but it is actually quite profound. It means having faith in ourselves, in our own innate wisdom and compassion. It means believing that we have the ability to make good choices, to know what is right for us, and to navigate our own path in life. Trusting in our own inner wisdom also means being willing to listen to ourselves, to pay attention to our own thoughts and feelings. It means being open to the messages that our own hearts and minds are sending us. This can be challenging, especially in a world that is constantly bombarding us with external messages and distractions. But if we can cultivate a sense of inner stillness and quiet, we can begin to hear the whisper of our own true selves. Trusting in our own inner wisdom requires courage. It means being willing to take risks, to step outside of our comfort zones, and to follow our own unique path. It means being willing to make mistakes, to learn from them, and to grow stronger as a result. It means being willing to be vulnerable, to be honest with ourselves about our fears and insecurities, and to embrace our own imperfections.
  1. Trusting in our own inner wisdom is an act of self-love. It is a way of honoring and valuing ourselves, of recognizing our own worth and potential. It is a way of saying to ourselves, "I believe in you. I trust you. I know that you have everything you need inside of you to live a full and meaningful life." And when we can truly trust in our own inner wisdom, we can find a deep sense of peace and contentment, knowing that we are always guided by the light of our own true selves.
