Let go of attachment from "summary" of Start Where You Are by Pema Chödrön

Attachment is what keeps us stuck in our patterns and prevents us from moving forward. It is the root cause of our suffering, as we become dependent on external circumstances for our happiness. When we cling to things, people, or situations, we are unable to see the impermanent nature of life. We hold on tightly, thinking that these attachments will bring us security and fulfillment, but in reality, they only bring us more pain and confusion. Letting go of attachment does not mean we must give up everything we hold dear. It simply means loosening our grip and releasing the tight hold we have on these things. By acknowledging the impermanence of life and accepting that change is inevitable, we can free ourselves from the suffering that comes with attachment. We must learn to cultivate a sense of detachment, allowing things to come and go without trying to hold on to them. When we let go of attachment, we create space for new possibilities and growth....
