King Janaka was a great ruler, renowned for his wise and just governance. He was an example of self-control and devotion to the spiritual path, which eventually led to his liberation from the cycle of birth and death.- King Janaka was a prominent figure in ancient India, renowned for his spiritual knowledge and dedication to God. He ruled the kingdom of Videha with wisdom and justice, making it famous throughout the world.
- According to legend, Janaka obtained enlightenment after years of meditation and intense spiritual practice. He became known as 'Maharshi Janaka', which means the 'Great Sage'.
- Family was very important for Janaka. He built strong relationships with all those close to him, particularly his three sons, Kundala, Rajadhidevi and Ramacandra.
- Janaka believed that detachment from material posessions was essential for self-realisation. After his passing, his wife Maithili inherited control of the kingdom, fulfilling Janaka's commitment to protecting dharma even beyond death.
