Releasing the need for control from "summary" of Spiritual Solutions by Deepak Chopra, M.D.

The need for control arises from fear. When you are afraid, you try to control every aspect of your life in order to feel safe and secure. However, this need for control actually stems from a lack of trust in the universe and in yourself. Releasing the need for control means letting go of this fear and learning to trust in the natural flow of life. It means surrendering to the fact that you cannot control everything, and that trying to do so only creates more stress and anxiety. By releasing the need for control, you open yourself up to the possibility of greater peace, joy, and fulfillment. You allow yourself to go with the flow, trusting that everything will work out as it is meant to. When you release the need for control, you also release the need to constantly judge and criticize yourself and others. You let go of the need to be perfect, and instead embrace your imperfections as part of what makes you human. Ultimately, releasing the need for control allows you to experience a greater sense of freedom and ease in your life. It enables you to live more in the present moment, rather than constantly worrying about the future or dwelling on the past. In this state of surrender and trust, you are able to connect more deeply with your true self, and with the energy of the universe. You find that you are able to manifest your desires more effortlessly, as you are no longer blocking the natural flow of abundance with your need for control. So, let go of the need for control, and embrace the beauty and magic of life as it unfolds. Trust in the universe, trust in yourself, and trust in the process of life. Release your fears, and open yourself up to a world of infinite possibilities.
