Acceptance of the present moment from "summary" of Spiritual Solutions by Deepak Chopra, M.D.

Acceptance of the present moment is the key to finding inner peace and contentment in our lives. When we resist what is happening in the present moment, we create suffering for ourselves. By accepting the reality of the present moment, we can free ourselves from unnecessary stress and anxiety. This does not mean that we should resign ourselves to a passive existence. Acceptance is not the same as approval. It simply means acknowledging what is happening without judgment or resistance. When we accept the present moment, we are able to see things as they truly are. This allows us to respond to challenges with clarity and wisdom, rather than reacting impulsively out of fear or anger. Acceptance does not mean that we have to like everything that is happening in our lives. It means that we are willing to face reality with courage and grace, knowing that we have the inner strength to deal with whatever comes our way. Acceptance of the present moment also involves letting go of the need to control everything in our lives. We cannot always change external circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to them. By letting go of the illusion of control, we can experience a sense of freedom and liberation. This does not mean that we should be passive or indifferent. It means that we can act with intention and purpose, without being attached to the outcome. When we accept the present moment, we are able to embrace the fullness of life, with all its joys and sorrows. We can cultivate gratitude for the blessings we have, while also acknowledging the challenges we face. Acceptance allows us to live with greater awareness and presence, appreciating each moment as it unfolds. This practice can lead to a deeper sense of connection with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us.
