Jupiter is massive from "summary" of Space Encyclopedia by David A. Aguilar,Christine Pulliam,Patricia Daniels

Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, is truly a behemoth of astronomical proportions. With a diameter of 86,881 miles, it is more than 11 times wider than Earth. This immense size is a result of Jupiter's composition, which consists mainly of gas rather than solid materials like rock and metal. In fact, Jupiter is made up mostly of hydrogen and helium, the same gases that make up the Sun. One of the most striking features of Jupiter is its mass. This planet is so massive that it contains more than twice the mass of all the other planets in the solar system combined. Its immense gravitational pull is strong enough to affect the orbits of nearby objects, including some of its own moons. This gravitational force is also responsible for shaping Jupiter's distinctive banded appearance, as well as its large and powerful storms, such as the famous Great Red Spot. In addition to its sheer size and mass, Jupiter also boasts an impressive collection of moons. With a total of 79 known moons, Jupiter has more satellites than any other planet in our solar system. Some of these moons, like Ganymede and Callisto, are even larger than the planet Mercury. These moons play a crucial role in Jupiter's gravitational dynamics, influencing its rings, magnetosphere, and overall behavior.
  1. Jupiter stands out as a true giant in our solar system, with its massive size, incredible mass, and vast collection of moons setting it apart from all other planets. Its presence and influence are felt throughout the solar system, shaping the very fabric of our cosmic neighborhood. Jupiter's sheer magnitude serves as a reminder of the incredible diversity and complexity of the universe we inhabit.
