Forming unlikely friendships from "summary" of Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts

In the chaos of Bombay, amidst the hustle and bustle of the streets, I found solace in the most unexpected of places - the company of those who were worlds apart from me. People whose paths I never thought would intersect with mine, became my confidants, my comrades in arms. There was Prabaker, the cheerful and naïve local guide who showed me the ropes of the city, his simple wisdom and unwavering loyalty grounding me in a place where chaos reigned supreme. Then there was Abdullah, the stoic Afghan warlord with a heart of gold, who took me under his wing and taught me the ways of the streets, his fierce loyalty and unwavering sense of honor earning my respect and admiration. But it wasn't just these two who I found myself forming unlikely friendships with. It was the countless others - the beggars on the street corners, the street children who roamed the alleyways, the outcasts and misfits of society who called the slums their home.
