The virtues of being patient during trials and tribulations from "summary" of Sahih Muslim (Volume 8) by Imam Abul-Husain Muslim
The believer who exhibits patience during times of trial and tribulation will be rewarded greatly by Allah. This virtue of patience is mentioned in various hadiths narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). One such hadith states that no one is given a gift better and more comprehensive than patience. This indicates the high status and reward that patience holds in the sight of Allah. Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of patience in another hadith where he said that whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. This shows that by practicing patience during difficult times, a believer can strengthen their character and faith, ultimately leading to more patience in the face of future trials. In addition, the rewards of patience are not limited to this world, but extend into the Hereafter as well. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said in a hadith that on the Day of Judgment, the first group to be judged will be those who were martyred. Among them will be a man who was martyred in battle, and Allah will ask him what he did in response to the blessings he was given. The man will reply that he fought for the sake of Allah until he was martyred. Allah will then ask him what he sought when he fought, and the man will say he fought seeking martyrdom. Allah will then declare that the man is truthful and will admit him into Paradise. This hadith illustrates the immense rewards that await those who exhibit patience during trials and tribulations, even to the point of sacrificing their lives for the sake of Allah. It serves as a reminder for believers to remain patient and steadfast in the face of adversity, knowing that their perseverance will be rewarded both in this life and the Hereafter.Similar Posts
