The man encounters setbacks from "summary" of Running with Sherman by Christopher McDougall

Sherman wasn't just any donkey; he was a donkey in trouble. The man who found him knew it wouldn't be easy nursing Sherman back to health. He'd have to start from scratch. And so, the man set out to do just that. But just as things were looking up, setbacks came crashing down. The man encountered one setback after another. Sherman's health was fragile, and progress was slow. The man did everything he could think of to help Sherman get better. He consulted experts, tried new treatments, and poured his heart and soul into caring for Sherman. But despite his best efforts, Sherman's recovery seemed to be at a standstill. As the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, the man began to feel the weight of the setbacks. Doubt crept in, and he wondered if he was doing the right thing. Was he pushing Sherman too hard? Was there something he was missing? The man's resolve wavered, but deep down, he knew he couldn't give up on Sherman. With each setback, the man learned something new. He became more attuned to Sherman's needs and more patient with his progress. He realized that setbacks were just part of the process - bumps in the road that would eventually smooth out. And so, the man pressed on, determined to see Sherman through to the end. Despite the setbacks, the man never lost faith in Sherman. He believed in the donkey's resilience and strength. And as he faced each new challenge, the man found the courage to keep going. Sherman's journey was far from over, but the man knew that together, they could overcome whatever obstacles came their way. And so, they continued to run - with Sherman leading the way.
