The parents are oblivious from "summary" of RT William Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet 6-Pack with Audio by Harriet Isecke,Tamara Hollingsworth
In the tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet, the parents of the young lovers are portrayed as being completely unaware of the deep connection that has formed between their children. Despite their best intentions, they fail to see the true extent of Romeo and Juliet's feelings for each other. Throughout the play, the parents are preoccupied with their own agendas and desires, often overlooking the emotional turmoil that their children are experiencing. They are blinded by their own assumptions and prejudices, unable to see beyond their own narrow perspectives. Lord Capulet, Juliet's father, is depicted as a domineering figure who is more concerned with his own status and reputation than with his daughter's happiness. He sees Juliet as a pawn to be used in furthering his own ambitions, rather than as an individual with her own desires and feelings. Similarly, Lady Capulet, Juliet's mother, is portrayed as being distant and detached from her daughter, more focused on maintaining appearances than on nurturing a loving relationship. She fails to provide the emotional support and understanding that Juliet so desperately needs. On the other side, Romeo's parents, Lord and Lady Montague, are also shown to be out of touch with their son's innermost thoughts and emotions. They are caught up in the longstanding feud with the Capulet family, which prevents them from truly seeing and understanding Romeo's feelings for Juliet.- The parents in Romeo and Juliet are depicted as being oblivious to the true nature of their children's love for each other. This lack of awareness ultimately contributes to the tragic fate that befalls the young couple, highlighting the destructive consequences of parental indifference and neglect.
