Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to receive national recognition and awards for my actions and contributions. These accolades have not only served as a validation of my efforts, but have also helped to bring attention to important social issues. One of the most significant recognitions I have received was the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was bestowed upon me by President Bill Clinton in 1996. This prestigious award is the highest civilian honor in the United States, and I was deeply humbled to be selected as a recipient.
