Throughout my life, I have been fortunate enough to receive national recognition and awards for my actions and contributions. These accolades have not only served as a validation of my efforts, but have also helped to bring attention to important social issues. One of the most significant recognitions I have received was the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was bestowed upon me by President Bill Clinton in 1996.
