When you build something out of your own needs, you make sure it works well. You understand the problem. That's the best way to create something great. That's how you can make sure it satisfies a real need. Scratch your own itch. Solve your own problem. If you come across a problem that you don't know how to solve, you're not going to be able to solve it well. You're not going to be able to fully understand the problem. You're not going to be able to come up with the best solution. You're just going to be guessing. And that's not a good way to build something. When you build something for yourself, you're more likely to stick with it. You're more likely to follow through. You're more likely to put in the time and effort to make it work. Because you care about it. Because it's something you want. You're not just building it to make money. You're building it because you need it. Because it's something that matters to you. And that's the best motivation there is. When you build something for yourself, you're also more likely to get it right. You're more likely to make something that really works. That really solves the problem. That really satisfies the need. Because you know what you're looking for. You know what you want. You know what the solution should look like. When you build something for yourself, you're more likely to be happy with the result. You're more likely to be satisfied with what you've created. You're more likely to be proud of what you've accomplished. Because it's yours. Because you did it. Because you made it happen. And that's a great feeling. When you build something for yourself, you're also more likely to create something unique. Something different. Something that stands out. Because you're not just copying someone else. You're not just following the crowd. You're doing your own thing. You're thinking for yourself. And that's how you can make something really special.
