Let go of societal expectations from "summary" of Quit Like a Millionaire by Kristy Shen,Bryce Leung
Society expects us to follow a certain path: go to school, get a good job, buy a house, have kids, and retire at 65. But what if that path doesn't align with our values, goals, or desires? What if we want something different, something unconventional?Letting go of societal expectations means breaking free from the mold and creating our own path. It means challenging the status quo and redefining success on our own terms. It means questioning why we do the things we do and whether they truly make us happy. By letting go of societal expectations, we give ourselves the freedom to pursue our passions, take risks, and live authentically. We no longer feel pressured to keep up with the Joneses or live a life that doesn't bring us fulfillment. Instead, we focus on what truly matters to us and what brings us joy. This concept is especially important when it comes to our finances. Society tells us to buy the latest gadgets, drive a fancy car, and live in a big house - all at the expense of our financial freedom. But when we let go of these expectations, we can prioritize saving, investing, and pursuing financial independence.- Self-awareness, and a willingness to swim against the current. But the rewards are worth it. When we let go of what others think we should do, we can live a life that is true to ourselves. We can pursue our dreams, build wealth on our own terms, and ultimately, quit like a millionaire.
