Capitalism perpetuates a cycle of exploitation and inequality from "summary" of Profit Over People by Noam Chomsky

The fundamental nature of capitalism, as exemplified by the workings of the global economy, is one in which power is concentrated in the hands of a privileged few. This concentration of power is not incidental, but rather inherent to the system itself. Through mechanisms such as market forces and corporate influence, those in positions of power are able to exploit others for their own gain. This exploitation takes many forms, but at its core is the extraction of surplus value from the labor of workers. In a capitalist economy, workers are compelled to sell their labor power in exchange for a wage. However, the value of this labor power is always less than the value that the worker generates through their labor. The surplus value created by the worker is appropriated by the capitalist, who then accumulates wealth at the expense of the worker. This dynamic of exploitation serves to perpetuate inequality within society. As capitalists accumulate wealth and power, they are able to further exploit workers and amass even greater fortunes. This concentration of wealth at the top of the economic hierarchy leads to a widening gap between the rich and the poor, with the former becoming increasingly wealthy while the latter struggle to make ends meet. Furthermore, the power dynamics inherent in capitalism extend beyond the economic realm and into the political sphere. As capitalists amass wealth, they are able to exert influence over governments and shape public policy to serve their own interests. This results in a system in which the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many, further entrenching the cycle of exploitation and inequality.
  1. Capitalism perpetuates a vicious cycle in which power and wealth become increasingly concentrated in the hands of a privileged few, while the majority of people are left struggling to survive. This system of exploitation and inequality is not a flaw of capitalism, but rather its very essence. Only by challenging and dismantling this system can we hope to create a more just and equitable society for all.
