idea from "summary" of Presentation Zen by Garr Reynolds
An idea is like a seed. It is a small, fragile thing that has the potential to grow into something big and beautiful. Just as a seed needs the right conditions to thrive – sunlight, water, nutrients – an idea needs the right environment to flourish. It needs to be nurtured and cared for, given the space and time to develop. Ideas are not static. They are dynamic, constantly changing and evolving as we engage with them, shape them, refine them. They are like living entities, waiting to be brought to life through our words and actions. But ideas can also be fragile, easily crushed or forgotten if not treated with care and respect. To communicate an idea effectively, we need to strip away the unnecessary layers and get to the core of what it is. We need to distill it down to its essence, so that others can grasp it quickly and easily. This requires clarity of thought and expression, a willingness to let go of the extraneous and focus on what truly matters. When presenting an idea, we must consider our audience. What will resonate with them? What will capture their imagination and inspire them to action? We need to tailor our message to fit their needs and interests, to speak to their hearts as well as their minds. But presenting an idea is not just about words. It is also about visuals, about creating a visual narrative that complements and reinforces our message. Images can convey emotions and concepts that words alone cannot, adding depth and richness to our communication.- The power of an idea lies in its ability to spark change, to move people to think and feel and act in new ways. It is a catalyst for transformation, a force that can shape the world around us. And it is up to us to unleash that power, to bring our ideas to life and let them shine bright.
