The oppressed, who have been conditioned by the oppressor to accept their reality as inevitable, must engage in critical reflection to question the oppressive structures that govern their lives. This process of conscientization allows the oppressed to recognize the contradictions within their reality and to uncover the mechanisms through which their oppression is maintained.
