Propaganda distorts truth in the society from "summary" of Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell

The Party's control over information in Oceania is absolute. Through the use of propaganda, they manipulate reality to suit their own purposes. The Party's slogan, "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength," is a prime example of how they distort the truth. By convincing the citizens that their perpetual state of war is actually a form of peace, they are able to maintain control over the population. The Ministry of Truth is responsible for fabricating historical records to align with the Party's current narrative. Winston, the protagonist, works at the Ministry of Truth and is tasked with rewriting past newspaper articles to match the Party's ever-changing version of history.
