Our brains are inherently social organs. We are wired to seek out connections with others and to seek validation from them. This deep-seated need for social interaction and approval is rooted in our evolutionary history as social animals. Throughout our evolution, forming social bonds and alliances has been crucial for survival. Being part of a social group provided protection, resources, and opportunities for reproduction. Our brains have therefore developed specialized neural circuits that drive us to seek social connections and validation. When we interact with others, our brains release feel-good chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin. These chemicals reinforce our social behaviors and make us feel good when we receive validation from others.
