Mean, median, and mode are measures of central tendency used to describe a data set. The mean of a data set is the average of all the values in the data set. For example, if you have the data set {2, 4, 6, 8, 10}, the mean would be (2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + 10) / 5 = 6. The median of a data set is the middle value when the values are arranged in ascending order. If the data set has an odd number of values, the median is the middle value. If the data set has an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle values. For example, in the data set {3, 5, 7, 9, 11}, the median would be 7. In the data set {4, 6, 8, 10}, the median would be (6 + 8) / 2 = 7. The mode of a data set is the value that occurs most frequently in the data set. It is possible for a data set to have more than one mode, or no mode at all. For example, in the data set {1, 2, 2, 3, 4}, the mode would be 2. In the data set {1, 2, 3, 4}, there is no mode because each value appears only once. Mean, median, and mode are useful tools for summarizing data and understanding its central tendencies. Each measure provides a different perspective on the data set, and they can be used together to get a more complete picture of the data.
