Hiranyakashipu, an evil and powerful king, was killed by Lord Vishnu in a remarkable manner that showed the power of the divine. He was tricked by Lord Vishnu in the form of Narasimha, half-man and half-lion, and was killed by being placed in between two doors and attacked with the nails of Narasimha.- The death of the demon king Hiranyakashipu was a momentous occasion in Indian mythology. It marked a new chapter and meant that an evil tyrant had been removed from power.
- Prahlad was loyal to Vishnu, Bhagavān's incarnation as Protector — and his devotion gave Narasimha the strength to defeat Hiranyakashipu.
