Death of demon king Hiranyakashipu from "summary" of Narasimha by Kevin Missal

Hiranyakashipu, an evil and powerful king, was killed by Lord Vishnu in a remarkable manner that showed the power of the divine. He was tricked by Lord Vishnu in the form of Narasimha, half-man and half-lion, and was killed by being placed in between two doors and attacked with the nails of Narasimha.

  6. Even though this timely event has gone down in mythology, it forever marks a big milestone in the advancement of civilization. It was a triumphant free will over tyranny and ensured the continuity of justice in ancient India.
  7. To remember this heroic achievement, Indians celebrate Narasimha Jayanti every year. People thank Bhagavān and partake in feasts and prayers in honor of their valiant liberator.
