Take joy, for example. In some cultures, the exuberance of laughter is celebrated openly, while in others, restraint embodies joy, manifesting as a quiet smile. The intensity of sorrow, too, differs; public mourning in one culture may clash with the stoicism prized in another. Thus, while the experience of these emotions is innate, their articulation is a reflection of cultural norms, rituals, and social expectations.
