Stand in solidarity with all oppressed communities from "summary" of My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem

The interconnectedness of all oppressions is a fact that cannot be denied. It is a truth that we must accept and act upon if we are to truly create a more just and equitable society. It is not enough to simply stand in solidarity with one oppressed group while ignoring the struggles of others. We must recognize that the fight for social justice is a collective effort that requires us to support all marginalized communities. By standing in solidarity with all oppressed communities, we are not only working towards the liberation of others but also towards our own liberation. The systems of oppression that target one group inevitably harm others as well. By working together to dismantle these systems, we are creating a more just and equitable world for everyone. Solidarity is not just about offering support or sympathy from a distance. It is about actively engaging with and amplifying the voices of those who are marginalized. It is about standing shoulder to shoulder with our fellow human beings and fighting for their rights as if they were our own. When we stand in solidarity with all oppressed communities, we are not only challenging the status quo but also creating space for new possibilities. We are opening up conversations and building bridges between different groups that have been divided by societal barriers. We are creating a tapestry of resistance that is strong and resilient in the face of adversity. In the words of Audre Lorde, "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." Our struggles are interconnected, and so too must be our efforts to create a more just and equitable world. When we stand in solidarity with all oppressed communities, we are taking a powerful and necessary step towards a future where everyone can live free from oppression and discrimination.
